Position Summary
The Business Development Intern will play a key role in identifying, researching, and pursuing
new business opportunities for BMOC. This position is ideal for a highly motivated and
ambitious individual looking to gain hands-on experience in real estate, sales, and market
research. The intern will assist in lead generation, industry research, outreach efforts, and sales
support while learning about the full lifecycle of property management business development.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Generation & Market Research
- Research and track upcoming real estate developments and recently approved projects in
- BMOC’s target markets.
- Identify key stakeholders, including developers, property owners, investment groups,
- and lenders, to create new business opportunities.
- Investigate ownership and management structures of existing properties to determine
- potential leads.
- Identify trends in student housing, real estate investments, and third-party property
- management to support business strategy.
Outreach & Relationship Development
- Conduct initial outreach to property owners, developers, and decision-makers via phone,
- email, and networking events to introduce BMOC’s services.
- Assist in developing strategies to build relationships with banks, insurance
- companies, and real estate investors to generate long-term business partnerships.
- Maintain and track outreach efforts, documenting interactions, follow-ups, and outcomes.
Sales & Business Development Support
- Assist in preparing client-facing presentations and proposals using PowerPoint and
- Excel.
- Conduct market comparisons and competitive analysis to position BMOC’s services
- effectively.
- Support the creation of marketing materials, case studies, and client proposals to
- showcase BMOC’s expertise.
- Attend industry events, networking opportunities, and meetings with potential clients
- when needed.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Real Estate, Marketing, Finance, Economics,
- or a related field, OR have documented sales and/or business development experience.
- Strong research and analytical skills to identify trends, leads, and market opportunities.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, take initiative, and work independently while problemsolving in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Interest in real estate, property management, or investment.
- Prior experience in sales, business development, or market research is a plus.
- Ability to network and build relationships with professionals in the industry.

Work Environment & Requirements
- This is an on-site position at BMOC’s Home Office located in Madison, WI.
- Some travel may be required for site visits and networking events.
- Must have access to reliable transportation for in-person meetings when necessary.
